Far-right AfD wins German state election, falls short of majority

The anti-immigration and Russia-friendly party Alternative for Germany (AfD) surged to victory in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt on Sunday. But it fell short of winning a majority in its quest to form the country's first far-right state government since the Second World War.
