Dangerous Hurricane Lowell passing just west of Hawaii

Hurricane Lowell was skirting western Hawaii, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain and punishing waves, the National Hurricane Center said, and leaving tens of thousands of homes and businesses in the dark.
